What it is and what it does. Sodium cyanide is the complexant of the cyanide copper, zinc, brass and silver baths. It dissolves the metal anode and keeps the deposit bright and well levelled on complex die-cast shapes.
- White crystalline briquettes; extremely toxic by ingestion and by inhalation of dust, and it releases hydrogen cyanide on contact with any acid.
- The free-cyanide to metal ratio is the main control parameter in every cyanide bath.
- Strictly segregated storage from acids, with an alkaline hypochlorite spill kit at the point of use.
