How to choose
Part shape, batch size and the finish specification decide the route. Every page in this group lists working parameters and the checks that must pass before shipping. Ask QLQ engineering if your case sits between two options.
Painting workshop: how the routes split
| Route | Part type | Typical cycle | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barrel painting | Small parts in bulk | Batch tumbler | Bruising on soft edges |
| Rack / hanger painting | Larger visible parts | Line with fixtures | Fixture marks |
| Cold painting | Heat-sensitive parts | Air dry / low bake | Adhesion after short cure |
| Resin dripping | Dimensional effects | Dip and drain | Drip marks on vertical faces |
FAQ
How do we choose between barrel and rack?
Size and finish requirement. If the part is small and the finish is not on a visible face, barrel wins on cost. If marks matter, rack.
Can the same line run several colours?
Yes with a cleaning cycle between colours. Budget the changeover time - it is usually the real cost.
