What it is and what it does. Disodium hydrogen phosphate is the buffering and chelating salt used in mildly alkaline cleaning formulations and as a corrosion inhibitor in rinse water.
- White powder; it holds the pH around 9 in solution, which makes it useful in mild cleaners.
- Provides phosphate alkalinity without the aggressive attack of caustic on aluminium or zinc.
- Often used together with a surfactant as a spray-cleaner base.
