What it is and what it does. Brush colouring powder (CP grade) is the powder used to prepare the brush colouring solution that gives black and dark relief finishes to copper alloy and zinc alloy hardware by hand.
- Dark grey to black powder; dissolved in water to make the brush solution used at the bench.
- Brush colouring is used where a controlled, hand-made patina is wanted on large or awkward parts that cannot be barrelled.
- The operator applies the solution with a brush, then relieves the highlights to build the antique effect.
