Dewaxing & Wax Removal - Junior

Wax Removal Temperature And Time Basics | Dewaxing & Wax Removal Junior Guide

Scope of this guide

This junior-level guide sticks to the basics you must run without help: safe settings, daily checks and the pass criteria you can verify yourself.

Process: Dewaxing & Wax Removal. Figures in this guide are industry-standard starting ranges; confirm against your supplier TDS before locking settings.

Working ranges and control points

The table below is the daily reference for a wax removal line. Set by the card, verify by the control point column.

Standard routine

  1. Pre-drain parts to keep wax out of the emulsion
  2. Hold parts fully submerged through soak
  3. Agitate gently; verify no wax film at lift
  4. Hot rinse immediately after soak
  5. Inspect under side-light before release to plating

Engineer notes

  • Wax redeposits when rinse water is cold — keep it hot
  • Skim floating wax between shifts, or it coats lifted parts
  • Blind holes hold wax — ultrasonic assist or drill-clear and re-soak
  • Emulsion life shortens with heavy wax loads; log additions
  • Adhesion failures trace to wax more often than to oil
Safety: Hot emulsion and steam scald. Face shield and apron at lift; lid tanks when agitating.

FAQ

How do I confirm wax is fully gone?
Side-light inspection plus water-break test; wax beads water where it remains.
Why does wax come back after rinsing?
Cold rinse redeposits emulsified wax. Keep rinse at 60 °C and skim the tank.
What soaks wax out of blind holes?
Ultrasonic emulsion or a targeted solvent pre-soak, then the standard line.
