What it is and what it does. Plating rack coating powder is the PVC plastisol powder used to insulate plating racks and jigs so that only the part, and not the rack, is plated.
- White to light grey fine powder, applied by heating the cleaned rack and dipping it into the fluidised powder bed.
- Proper insulation stops the rack from stealing current and from plating over, which causes burnt contact points and uneven deposits.
- The coating must be stripped back from the contact tips, otherwise the parts make no electrical contact.
