What it is and what it does. QLQ-024 is the nickel levelling agent that fills fine polishing scratches and gives the smooth, deep-bright appearance expected on the visible surfaces of bag hardware.
- Pale yellow to colourless clear liquid, dosed at low concentration.
- Levelling is what hides the polishing marks left by the mops, so it has a direct effect on the visual quality of the finished part.
- Works with the brightness additive; levelling without brightness or the reverse will not give the intended finish.
Typical Use in a Plating / Finishing Line
| Item | Typical guidance |
|---|---|
| Bright nickel bath | Dosed per the process sheet, on the ampere-hour reading |
| Control | Hull cell with a deliberately scratched panel shows the levelling effect |
| Note | Good pre-polishing is still required - levelling hides fine scratches, not deep ones |
Safety, Handling & Storage

Buyer Questions We Answer Every Week
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How large a scratch can be levelled? | Levelling works at the micrometre scale; deep polishing marks must be removed mechanically before plating. |
| Why did levelling drop after a carbon treatment? | The carbon removed the additive; re-add it on the process sheet basis and re-check with a Hull cell. |

Buying questions we answer most
Is the SDS available before we order?
Yes. SDS and COA are issued per lot. Tell us the destination country so the SDS is supplied in the required format and language.
Can we get a trial quantity first?
Yes. Trial packs are quoted separately and shipped with the analytical method, so your lab can verify the material against the current bath before switching.
What packing and shelf life should we expect?
Standard export packing in drums or jerry cans with inner liner. Shelf life depends on the product - typically 12 months in a closed container, stored away from heat and direct sunlight.
How is it shipped - is it dangerous goods?
Some products are classed as dangerous goods and need the correct UN packing and documentation. We confirm the classification and the shipping route before quoting freight.
Can you match a competitor's additive?
Send the TDS and a bath sample. We compare the operating window and analytical method, then run a Hull cell panel before recommending a replacement.
