What it is and what it does. Electrolytic copper (anode plate) is the 99.95% pure copper anode used in acid copper plating, where the anode dissolves to replenish the copper that is deposited on the work.
- Reddish-brown metal plate, normally 99.95% copper with a controlled phosphorus content depending on the process.
- In acid copper the anode dissolves cleanly and keeps the bath metal content stable, provided it is bagged and the chloride level is correct.
- Anode sludge forms on the surface; bagging the anode keeps the sludge out of the bath.
