What it is and what it does. Tea seed powder is the traditional natural degreaser used in the polishing and pre-plating stages of zipper and hardware manufacture. Its saponin content emulsifies polishing compound and wax so that parts come out clean enough to plate.
- Pale brown to tan fine powder, saponin content normally 12-15%; a natural, readily biodegradable product.
- Used in rotating barrels to remove polishing wax and compound from zipper sliders and other small hardware.
- A traditional material that still competes on cost with modern industrial cleaners in barrel processes.
