What it is and what it does. Sulfuric acid is the conducting acid of the acid copper, acid tin and anodising electrolytes, and the pickling acid that removes rust and scale from steel before plating.
- Supplied as a 98% dense colourless oily liquid; it is diluted slowly into water, never the reverse.
- In acid copper it is the conductive medium and it also prevents the copper from hydrolysing.
- As a pickle on steel it is normally used at 5-20% at 60-80 C, often with an inhibitor.
