Paints, Lacquers & Tools
Paints, Lacquers & Tools groups every process in this section. The overview below shows all options side by side - click any card to open the full process page with working parameters, step-by-step procedure and QC checks.

How to choose
Part shape, batch size and the finish specification decide the route. Every page in this group lists working parameters and the checks that must pass before shipping. Ask QLQ engineering if your case sits between two options.
Matching the tool to the film, not the other way around
| Tool | Use | Setting note |
|---|---|---|
| Gravity gun 1.3-1.5 mm | General top coat | Fluid tip by viscosity, not by habit |
| HVLP gun | High transfer efficiency | Lower pressure, closer distance |
| Airbrush 0.3-0.5 mm | Touch-up and small areas | Thin the material, keep passes light |
| Dip tank | Simple uniform parts | Control withdrawal speed for film build |
Transfer efficiency changes with distance and pressure - record both on the job card.
FAQ
When should we use lacquer instead of paint?
Lacquer dries faster and reflows, which suits small touch-up and antique effects. For durability on handled parts, a two-component paint is the more stable choice.
What kills a spray finish most often?
Dirty air line and wrong viscosity. Both are cheaper to fix than any gun upgrade.
