What it is and what it does. Trisodium phosphate is the alkaline builder and water-softening salt of heavy-duty cleaners and phosphating make-up. It keeps hardness salts in solution and improves rinsing.
- White crystalline granules; strongly alkaline in solution, more so than soda ash.
- The phosphate part softens water, so hard-water rinsing problems are reduced.
- Phosphate discharge is restricted in many markets - check the local effluent limits before using it in cleaners.
