What it is and what it does. Potassium sodium tartrate (Rochelle salt) is the mild complexant and buffering salt used in electroless plating, in cyanide-free silver and in some copper colouring formulations.
- Colourless to white crystals, very soluble; a classic complexant for copper and silver.
- Used in electroless copper baths and in some alkaline cleaners as a mild chelant.
- Also the classic reference material in analytical chemistry, which indicates how well defined its behaviour is.
