What it is and what it does. Phosphating agent (film-forming agent) is the concentrated phosphating chemistry that forms the conversion film on steel before painting or plating, and it is used on hardware where a paint key is essential.
- Pale green to colourless liquid; the working concentration and the accelerator are set by the process sheet.
- The film improves paint adhesion and corrosion resistance and reduces under-film creep at a scratch.
- Controlled by the free acid to total acid ratio and by the iron content of the bath.
