What it is and what it does. Cobalt acetate is used to build the cobalt content of cobalt-nickel and cobalt-tin baths and as a colouring and catalyst material in cobalt-containing conversion coatings.
- Red-violet crystals, soluble in water and in dilute acids.
- Preferred where the acetate anion is wanted instead of chloride or sulfate.
- Used in the formulation of some dark conversion colours on zinc die castings.
