What it is and what it does. Long gloves (acid and alkali resistant) are the elbow-length PPE used for handling acids, alkalis and plating solutions and for reaching into cleaning and pickling tanks.
- Long-sleeve PVC or nitrile coated gloves with a cotton or jersey lining; the length protects the forearm, which is where splashes land.
- Acid and alkali resistant, but not resistant to organic solvents - a different material is needed for those.
- Check for pinholes before each use and replace gloves that show hardening or cracking.
