What it is and what it does. Basic copper carbonate is the neutralising and copper-supplying salt used to raise the copper content of acid copper baths and to adjust colouring solutions without adding free acid.
- Green powder that dissolves in acid to give copper ions; unlike copper sulfate it adds no sulfate.
- Used when the bath is low in metal but the acid content is already correct.
- Also used in the preparation of antique and verdigris type colouring solutions.
